Safety Risks

  • For a supervisor, long periods of writing are less time focusing on the safety of the dive.

  • There is currently no system to view a diver's current saturation status.

  • The current system is operated with many stopwatches with no modern technology assisting the supervisor's role. 

  • There are several diver logbooks to choose from, and none have the required input fields to document a full dive or a saturation period.

  • Paper is fragile, and records could be damaged in transit or storage.

Costly

  • The current process uses a large quantity of paper and requires expensive physical storage at tens of thousands per annum. 

  • Recruitment and competency are made complex and potentially based on inaccurate information.

  • Gathering global data is difficult. It is carried out by posting or scanning each document and requires manual searches, making it impossible to carry out due diligence effectively.

  • The current method wastes staff hours from inputting, storing, sharing and searching the data.

Archaic Processes

  • The current system is a manual pen and carbon copy paper with no recognised industry standard. Currently, every company has their own paperwork template. 

  • Individuals carry their fragile portfolios everywhere they go, which can hold years of experience. If it were to be lost or damaged, it would be almost impossible to track down the completed hours.

  • Illegible dive logs are as good as no logs. English is the chosen language Offshore. For some individuals, English is not their first language. For others, it could be due to dyslexia or poor handwriting, especially when multitasking.
